Dance Conservatory Summer Intensive for Teens and High School Students

Students in the three-week Dance Conservatory intensive receive individual coaching from our professional dance faculty in solo choreography and technique. In addition to developing and performing group choreography for a professionally shot dance video, each student choreographs and performs a solo dance piece that will be filmed on location in a venue that complements the mood of the student’s performance. Students leave the program with a polished solo performance video to share with friends, send to agents, or submit with high school, college or conservatory applications.

During the first week, conservatory instructors will get to know the abilities and strengths of each dancer, and help students generate ideas for their solo choreography. The second week of the program focuses on the development of compelling solo choreography.


During the third week, dancers performs their solo dance on location with a professional film crew. These performances are edited and screened for the entire camp and parents at our Final Friday Showcase.

Experience & Style

SOCAPA's Dance Conservatory is reserved for Advanced students who wish to develop new techniques in contemporary dance and push their own creativity. Classes and individualized coaching will not be provided in the hip-hop style.

Group Videos

In addition to developing your solo choreography, collaborate with your fellow dancers in two group dance videos. SOCAPA's dance choreographers will choreograph two new and unique dances that showcase the talents of the class to be performed live and for the camera. Take part in costuming and makeup classes, and incorporate what you learn into your solo.

SOCAPA's summer camps in LA are held at Occidental College, known as the Princeton of the West.

SOCAPA is headquartered year-round in the heart of Greenwich Village, where we share studio space with Playwrights Horizon Theater School, under the auspices of NYU Tisch School of the Arts. In the summer, we expand our Film & Photography programs to TNS' University Center, envisioned as a campus within a building, featuring numerous screening rooms, Mac Labs, film and photo studios, and a bustling cafeteria.
